Job Title: Advocacy and Training Coordinator, Aneka

Location: Bangalore, Karnataka

Organizations profile:

Aneka is a human rights organisation working mainly with sexual minorities, sexworkers and PLHIV (People Living with HIV). Our work includes action research, human rights advocacy, support for community-based organisations and community lobbying and campaigns

Aneka is looking for a advocacy and training associate for our projects.

Job Description:

The Coordinator will plan, support and guide the policy-oriented elements of Aneka’s advocacy and activism. She/he will maintain a working knowledge of sexuality related legislation and other relevant policy issues and translate this information into clear goals and strategies for advocacy.

The person will also be closely involved with designing and implementing training modules for the community collectives.

Other responsibilities will include supporting the development of fund raising strategy including proposal writing, maintaining relationship with funders and help in report-writing

Requirement:

  1. At least four years relevant experience at a middle/senior position in human rights/ social justice/ community collectivisation work
  2. Comfort to work with working class sexual minorities/ sexworkers/ people living with HIV
  3. Committed to social justice in the context of class, caste, gender, sexuality, religion etc.
  4. Team player and ability build alliances with various social movements and other larger social change processes

Eligibility:

  1. Strong interest in and ability to grasp policy and advocacy issues
  2. Ability to explain complex advocacy situations and goals clearly and accurately
  3. A strong analytical and writing skills (in English) required.
  4. Communicate in Kannada or at least one South Indian language
  5. Independently plan and coordinate training programmes

Salary will be based on experience and skills.
