The Central Himalayan Rural Action Group (Chirag) (www.chirag.org), a not for profit, non-government organization is looking to recruit an operations head to be based in Sitla, Mukteshwar, District Naini Tal.

Job Description:

The person recruited will be expected to take charge of field operations, with all area managers, working out of 9 offices in 3 districts, reporting to him/her. S/he will be responsible for delivery of all services, in the sectors we are involved, which include education, health, natural resource management and livelihoods – working with the area teams and functional heads, operating out of our Simayal office. Increasingly more and more of our work is, and will continue to be related to setting up and management of (community) institutions. The person recruited, will need to have some understanding and capacity for this process. Finally the operations head will also mentor area teams and nurture fresh talent.

Eligibility:

The ideal candidate would have a post graduate qualification, with 12+ years of post qualification experience, at least part of which should be in the commercial sector. It is more than likely that a person for the position would have an academic bent and have qualifications to match. The candidate should be willing to relocate and also enjoy extensive rural travel, to remote Himalayan villages, which the work will entail. The ability to work in teams, strong leadership capacity, analytical skills necessary for these fast changing times and a spirit of discovery and learning, would be key attributes of the successful candidate.
