The Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding is a national institute formed in April, 1988 under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), an autonomous council under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. To identify and evolve varieties of species used in afforestation and social forestry that will contribute to the national goal of achieving a growth of 3 to 4 cubic meters of biomass per ha per year within the ecological considerations applicable to the area.

Job Description:

The Institute of Forest Genetics & Tree Breeding, is establishing an Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Centre and is conducting Walk In Interview for the post of Programme Officer. The selected candidate will prepare a comprehensive annual plan of activities/work as well as strategic plan in consultation with the ENVIS Coordinator, identifying work components for the project keeping in view the objectives, identification of data sources, data gaps, knowledge gaps and verification and authentication of collected data with appropriate tabulations. Programme Officer will be the overall technical head of the centre under the ENVIS Coordinator.

Eligibility:

M.Sc. in Forestry/Agriculture/ Environmental Science/Botany with proficiency in computer applications with three years of working experience in database management. Age Limit- 45 years.
