Job Title: Research Assistant, IISC

Location: Bangalore

Job Description:

Motivated field-oriented person to join research program (Prof. R. Sukumar’s lab at CES, IISc) on the long-term dynamics of a tropical dry forest in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (the Nilgiris, Tamilnadu).

Conduct fieldwork along with an existing team studying forest dynamics, carbon inventory, and phenological monitoring. Perform data entry and preliminary data processing. Be willing to stay at the field station in Masinagudi on a regular basis.

The position provides a great opportunity to obtain field experience in long-term forest research methodology as well as an understanding of the dynamics of this important ecosystem.

Eligibility:

Master’s degree in Botany, Forestry, Environmental Sciences, or Life Sciences from a recognized university with first class. Basic computer knowledge, 4-wheeler driving, and the ability to converse in Kannada and/or Tamil.
