State wise CFA and Capacity of Off-Grid solar installations under the JNNSM (2010-11)

To encourage and promote sustainable development in the energy sector, Government of India launched Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission in 2010.  For meeting the targets set in the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) for Phase-I, Government of India is promoting off-grid applications of solar energy (both SPV and Solar Thermal) off-grid application includes home lighting systems, solar lanterns, pumps, traffic lights/blinkers, illuminating advertisement hoardings, cookers, geysers,   and even standalone power plants.

Government is keen interested in promoting such off-grid solar installations and is likely to promote subsidies and soft loans for it. MNRE would provide financial support through a combination of 30 % subsidy and/or 5% interest bearing loans.

Taking benefits of this scheme many project developers have installed off grid solar energy units at different locations and received subsidies and soft loan from the government. Himachal Pradesh has secured more Central Financial Assistance (CFA) and Rajasthan is ahead in total installed capacity.

Following table shows relevant details of projects sanctioned during 2010-11 under Off Grid Solar applications of JNNSM
