For our Regional Centre for South and South East Asia, based in New Delhi, India, we are looking for a position of Water Specialist.

Job Description:

  1. Design and implement detailed work plans for different project activities;
  2. Evaluation of existing management of irrigation schemes;
  3. Evaluation of existing irrigation infrastructure for agriculture (i.e. Drip, Canal);
  4. Coordinate and plan activities of water conservation in consultation with commodity experts of Solidaridad
  5. Supervise primary data collection (mainly hydrological parameters) at the intervention locations.
  6. Supervise and analyze data collected in the field;
  7. Writing (technical) reports;

The position reports to the Managing Director of South and South East Asia of Solidaridad in New Delhi, India.

Eligibility:

  1. MSc/Postgraduate in the field of Water Resources Management / Agricultural Sciences or related subjects (e.g. irrigation engineering, natural resources management);
  2. At least 5 years’ practical experience in water conservation in agricultural sector;
  3. Good knowledge of agricultural concerns;
  4. Good knowledge of agricultural water supply and demand;
  5. Good knowledge of management of irrigation schemes;
  6. Proven skills in data analysis and reporting;
  7. Strong analytical and report writing skills;
  8. Good presentation and communication skills in English
  9. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;
  10. Ability to demonstrate effective teamwork skills;
  11. Ability to work and supervise field teams in rural areas/agricultural settings; and
  12. Sound personal organization and priority setting skills;
