Title:Phd Position In Electric Power Engineering, Stochastic Planning Of Smart Distribution Grids, Lulea University Of Technology, Sweden
Location:Sweden
Organization’s profile:
The Electric Power Engineering Group in Skelleftea is a very successful group at Lulea University of Technology with various lines of research concerning integration of renewable electricity production and energy-efficient consumption in the electric power grid.
Job Description:
The area Electric power engineering includes the study of sustainable systems for production and transport of electrical energy including interaction between grid, production and consumption.
Some of the ongoing lines of research are: distortion due to wind and solar power; origin and spread of supraharmonics (2 to 150 kHz); reduced life-time of lighting equipment due to voltage distortion; increasing the hosting capacity of the grid by means of storage and communication; and stability of railway traction systems. The PHD Scholar will work on a research-council-funded project regarding the development of stochastic methods for the planning of electric power distribution networks making use of various kinds of smart-grid technology and methods.
Eligibility:
Technical Engineering Master’s Degree, Degree of Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent with specialisation appropriate for research within electrical power engineering e.g., electrical engineering, electronics, energy technology, engineering physics or equivalent areas.
