Job Title: Program Specialist, Jal Bhagirathi Foundation

Organization’s profile:

JBF is selecting a Development Professional in its EU supported project “Poverty reduction of desert communities in the dry lands of western Rajasthan through integrated community based water resource management” to provide services for research and documentation, reporting, networking and writing proposals. It is a very exciting job opportunity with tremendous potential for growth and learning in the broad area of integrated water resource management and sustainable development.

Job Description:

  1. Research and Documentation:The person should be able to document knowledge generated by synthesising best practices and field learning from the projects of the Foundation as well as research findings. These documents will serve as reference material for researchers, policy makers and practitioners. Also, with this learning, He/ She should be able to engage in policy and advocacy issues and henceforth adding value to the work of the Foundation
  2. Developing Project Proposals and Networking:The person should be able to develop and write concept notes and project proposals. He/ She should be able to work independently and network with likeminded NGOs, government institutions, policy makers, local and national media and knowledge centres, which will not only contribute to knowledge generation but also result in collective action. Networking will be undertaken through established networks such as Solutions Exchange as well as with systematic follow-up with contacts made in committees and forums.
  3. Developing Communication Tools and IEC Materials:Aiming to bring positive changes in policy as well as wider awareness, the person should be able will develop a robust communication strategy and effective communication tools for better outreach to communities, elected representatives and government as well visibility of the work at local, national and international levels, including IEC materials, other tools like community media and production of video. He/ She should be able to facilitate regular updating of website, tweets and blogs.

Eligibility:

  1. The candidate should be a Graduate / Post-Graduate degree in social sciences, and rural development with excellent writing and communication skills in English with at least 5 to 10 years experience in development agencies or NGOs in similar capacity. Candidates with multi disciplinary background will be given preference.
  2. The candidate should have strong documentation and report writing skills with current knowledge of development issues and policies and an analytical bent of mind.
  3. The candidate should have the ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas. Candidates should have a strong background in development studies, and keenly interested in developing domain expertise in exciting and new areas of theorisation and action.
  4. The position requires a strong passion for social action and related issues, commitment to participatory development, and an interest in grass root projects.
  5. The candidate should have experience in strategic planning, program design and management, institutional strengthening and evaluation.
  6. The person should be an independent worker and should be able to lead a team to providing focused output.
