GIZ in India- Germany has been cooperating with India by providing expertise through GIZ for more than 50 years. To address India’s priority of sustainable and inclusive growth, GIZ’s joint efforts with the partners in India currently focus on the following areas:

  1. Energy- renewable energy and energy efficiency
  2. Environment – Sustainable Urban and Industrial Development,
  3. Natural Resource Management
  4. Private Sector Development

Project Background:

RESRA is a large-scale rural-electrification project and aims at developing a sustainable model for decentralized energy generation. The project is spread across two sites – a cluster of 2 villages in Kolwan Valley (near Pune), Maharashtra and a cluster of 24 villages in Korba, Chhattisgarh.

In Kolwan, the cultivation of Napier Grass has been established to be used as feedstock for biogas, organic fertilizers, bio-fuel pellets, fodder etc. in order to improve access to energy by utilizing all Napier Grass inherent value chains and generate income from productive applications.

Job Description:

Responsibilities and tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Coordinating with the companies (civil engineering consultants, civil contractors, local NGO, Kirloskar) to ensure meeting of the civil construction schedule for Kolwan and Nanegaon.
  2. Coordinating with the supplier, local NGO and transport company to ensure smooth procurement of plant & machinery, on-time delivery and installation.
  3. Coordination with supplier, Kirloskar, local NGO and transport companies for repairing work of Biogas Plant.
  4. Facilitating consultants engaged by GIZ for project evaluation, biogas utilization, sales & marketing of RESRA products and related activities.
  5. Coordination with Kirloskar and local NGO for smooth operations of the biogas plant.
  6. Regularly report issues related with civil construction, machinery procurement, biogas plant repairing, biogas plant commissioning and other project related activities.
  7. Oversee implementation of operational and monitoring plans at the sites.
  8. Represent GIZ in various organizations and state offices in Kolwan, if required.
  9. Improve existing communication structures amongst the stakeholders – involved institutions, NGOs and stakeholders with the project team in Delhi.
  10. Setting up systems and Management Information System (MIS) in data collection, revenue collection, billing, system performance and procurement.
  11. Assist the project team in coordination of project tasks with counterparts (MNRE, state nodal agencies) and other institutions/stakeholders, including consultants;
  12. Establishing data collection system (biogas plant, operations and business), collecting data and report in format as finalized within the project team.
  13. Assist on business models implementation for distributed rural power generation.
  14. Coordination and travel to Korba site, if required.
  15. Preparation of field/status reports on project progress viz-a-viz operational plan.
  16. Sending budgetary requirements, spending reports and compliance reports to Delhi office. Facilitating finance related activities such as petty cash management, bill checking and bill tracking.
  17. Assist in the organization of relevant workshops and conferences;

Eligibility:

Required Qualifications and Competencies

Formal Education

  1. Technical Degree or post-graduation from a reputed Institute/university in subjects such as civil engineering, agriculture, renewable energy, rural energy planning, energy & environment management.
  2. Management degree in general management, agriculture, renewable energy and environment will be an added advantage
  3. Fluent in English speaking and writing. Familiarity with Marathi language is a plus

Professional Experience

  1. At least 3-5 years of professional working and techno-managerial experience in a similar position and in relevant fields/sectors: civil construction, energy planning & strategies, agriculture, renewable energy projects in rural areas and village energy security programs.

Other Qualifications

  1. Field Survey and data analysis skills required
  2. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), and
  3. Good professional analytical, strategic, conceptual skills suitable for the renewable energy sector.
  4. Good social & networking skill.
