Researcher position at WOTR

Job Title:Researcher (Agronomy or Agro-meteorology)

Location:Pune

Organization’s profile: WOTR is a not-for-profit NGO founded in 1993 operating currently in five 6 Indian states – Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha. WOTR provides capacity building and advisory services to developmental practitioners from 27 other Indian states as well as, occasionally, from 62 countries.

WOTR’s mandate is to reduce poverty through mobilizing the self help capacities of individuals and communities to regenerate the eco-spaces or watersheds they live in, harvest rain water wherever it falls, use it productively, undertake sustainable livelihoods and do whatever else it takes to get them out of poverty.

Job Description:

  1. Providing technical support for the coordination and development of agri related climate tools and products.
  2. Coordinating delivery of agro meteorological products and services (information, warnings, and advisories) to farmers.
  3. Support to integrate Indigenous Knowledge in agro-meteorological management practices.
  4. Coordinating feedback and verification systems for the disseminated products.
  5. Developing a strategy for an efficient dissemination of information to the relevant end-users

Eligibility: 

  1. The individual must be a M.sc in Agronomy/ Ph.D in Agronomy OR Agro meteorology having 5-6 years experience in research /Agrosdvisories/ Extension.
  2. The Ideal candidate will need to have proven expertise in:
  3. Knowledge of local regional language and English (verbal/written) is a must.
  4. The post requires travel in rural area and interactions with farmers.
