Senior Research Associate Vacancy at Landesa

Job Title: Senior Research Associate/ Research Associate

Location: New Delhi

Company profile: Founded as the rural development institute, Landesa has partnered with governments to help provide secure land rights to more than 100 million families since 1967.

Job Description:

  1. Fully understand and support Landesa’s mission and strategic objectives.
  2. Responsible for supporting any and all activities as directed by the Landesa India Program Director including doing desk research on quantitative and qualitative data on land and related issues.
  3. Conduct research on topics assigned by India Country Director / Director – Programs and other national team members as and when required.
  4. Design and codify quantitative questionnaire, administer questionnaire, conduct orientation of the enumerators, conduct data back check, check data entry errors, as required for research
  5. Conduct data cleaning and quantitative analysis for first, second and third orders, using SPSS/SATA as desired by Landesa.
  6. Maintain research files and articles, both written and electronic, on relevant topics for Landesa India.
  7. Conduct and write literature review of existing literature as & when required
  8. Produce summary documents of research findings for newsletters, workshops and other Landesa – RDI activities.
  9. Support the National Communications & Advocacy Manager in the execution of a variety of communications strategies including but not limited to document production, publications, data summaries, presentations, other reports, letters, memorandums and other items.
  10. Assist in organizing workshops, seminar, special events and meetings, including the selection, inspection, and booking of facilities and equipment, ordering of food and refreshment, and other activities.
  11. Undertake special projects that arise from time to time under the small grants which focus on women and land.
  12. Represent Landesa at various meetings and workshops.
  13. Other support as required

Eligibility:

  1. A deep commitment to the mission of a better, safer future for the world’s poorest people through land ownership and secure land rights.
  2. Ability to proficiently use Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software. Experience of data analysis using SPSS, SATA, Exelstat or other statistical software is absolutely necessary
  3. Commitment to Landesa’s core values of impact, respect, collaboration, dedication, and learning.
  4. Ability to work in support of and collaboratively with a range of people at all levels, including Landesa global staff, project management team, RDI donors, RDI partners including government officials, visitors, contractors and subcontractors, outside vendors and services suppliers, and other administrative staff members.
  5. Fluency in English and Hindi required.  Proficiency in other Indian local languages highly desired.
  6. Ability to work as a member of teams including administration, development, communications and program teams.
  7. Ability to communicate well in writing, orally, and non-verbally. Includes an ability to make and use distinctions as to types, frequency, tenor, and levels of communications, depending upon the circumstances, audience, recipient, and content.
  8. Work Habits should include but are not limited to accuracy, creativity, efficiency, thoroughness, regularity, timeliness, neatness, orderliness, and punctuality.  A strong drive for excellence in work products and personal performance.

Education and Experience

  1. Post Graduate degree in Economics/Demography/ Social Science or related area.
  2. Special diploma/certificate or formal training in quantitative research methods is highly desirable
  3. A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience that includes the performance of some or all of the duties described above. Previous experience in quantitative social research is mandatory.
