Job Title: Senior Training Coordinator & Unit In-charge, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Institute

Location: Patna (Transferable), Bihar

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Institute is a non-profit training and development organization dedicated to providing practical solutions to a wide range of water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental issues in India and the neighbouring countries. WASH Institute is established at Kodaikanal and also has a branch office at Patna, Bihar. Core activities of WASH Institute are conducting training programs to groom water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental professionals and functionaries from government, Non-profit organizations and other agencies, involved in the WATSAN sector. Special focus is given to middle level professionals who are directly involved in managing the programmes on ground. WASH Institute also has an academic wing which runs formal courses in Affiliation with the Madurai Kamaraj University. The two courses presently offered are the one year PG diploma course in Environmental Sanitation Science or Sanitary Inspectors Course and the one year certificate course in Capacity Building for Health workers. The organization also undertakes monitoring evaluation besides engaging in projects like Appropriate action research, field study/experiments, knowledge sharing and advocacy activities that can promote importance of capacity building and influence other sector players and institutions to replicate models and strategies widely.

Package Range : Rs.4.80 – 6.00 lakhs per annum

Job Summary;

This position is responsible for ensuring coordination and leading of various WASH Institute Training & functions in Bihar, which includes conducting training for partners’ staff and stakeholders, project monitoring, designing of course curriculum & module, managing of staff, timely submission of progress reports, lobby and advocacy. This would include assisting the Program Coordinator and the management for compliance with organization norms and policies.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Organising training and capacity building support to partners staff and their stakeholders
  2. Conducting project monitoring to verify the impact of training program and making appropriate changes to enhance the effectiveness of training
  3. Participating the stakeholder meeting to understand partners training and capacity building needs& requirements
  4. Developing /supporting documentation, timely report submission to donors, proposal development etc as per the organisation requirements
  5. Leading the team of professionals/trainers in Patna unit
  6. Undertaking lobby and advocacy work to Market WASHi course in Bihar and neighbouring states
  7. Serve as a resource person for training, evaluation and other assignments as per the request of the clients.
  8. Updating the resource panel members by identifying and selection of suitable resource persons for the programmes.
  9. Conducting periodical team meetings for sharing of work, experience, learning and planning.
  10. Monitoring the performance of all staff and guiding the members to execute the various tasks
  11. Assisting the program coordinators and the management for compliance with organization norms and policies.
  12. Representing WASHI in different forums and events in Bihar neighbouring States.

Eligibility:

Preferred Experience: Minimum five to eight years’ experience as training, capacity building and project management in a National/ International Development Organization would be an added advantage. Water and Sanitation sector experience is very essential.

Qualification/s: Post Graduate degree in social science or environmental engineering would be preferred.

  4. Good oral and written communication and computing skills
  5. Good experience in human resource related management .
  6. Excellent presentation, interpersonal and administrative skills
  7. Effective leadership and facilitation skills

Languages: Speak, read and write in English & Hindi
