McDonald’s eateries in the UK and Ireland will finish progress to paper straws in 2019; McDonald’s eateries in Belgium are currently testing trials and other options to plastic straws and tests are ready for select eateries in the U.S., France, Sweden, Norway, and Australia which will follow soon.
McDonald’s reported a staged rollout of paper straws in every one of the 1,361 McDonald’s eateries in the UK and Ireland with phase-out set for 2019 and plans to test contrasting options to plastic straws in various markets throughout its chain.
The company issued a press release detailing its commitment to cut down on plastic usage.
McDonald’s UK and Ireland will start progressing to paper straws beginning in September. This move bolsters McDonald’s objective to source 100% of visitor bundling from sustainable, reused, or guaranteed sources by 2025.
Notwithstanding tests that started not long ago in the UK, McDonald’s has likewise started testing other options to plastic straws in Belgium. McDonald’s will start testing choices in select eateries in the U.S., France, Sweden, Norway and Australia. Notwithstanding testing elective materials, in a few markets including Malaysia, the company will start tests to offer straws only when asked for by customers.
