Established in 1932, Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Allied Trusts together form one of the largest private sector philanthropic organisations with an annual disbursement of about Rs. 300 crores. The Trusts offer individual assistance to students and to poor patients, make financial contributions to Institutions and provide financial support to over 600 NGOs in the country. To manage their grant making and management activities, the Trusts are looking for a suitable person for the position of PROGRAMME ASSOCIATE in their Urban Poverty and Livelihoods portfolio.

Job Description:

The Programme Associate will report to the Programme Officer, Urban Poverty and Livelihoods. S/he will assist in the progress monitoring of the sanctioned projects, grant management and various other aspects like installment releases, budget administration and writing proposal notes. This position is based in Mumbai and the work will routinely involve travel of up to two weeks a month. The work will also include documentation of existing programs. S/he is expected to acquire a sufficient grasp of the issues and problems in the sector so as to be able to do grant making on one’s own after a period of two to three years.

Eligibility:

Candidates should be Post Graduates in Livelihoods/Rural Management / Social Work and have at least three years experience in the implementation of a development project in an NGO/ Social enterprise. Prior experience on the themes given above will be given special weightage. Candidates should have the following competencies:

  1. A keen interest and experience in the development sector with specific emphasis on livelihoods
  2. Time management and multitasking skills. There will be fairly demanding timelines with multiple deliverables
  3. Competent in standard MS Office tools, such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
  4. Analytical skills to work with budgets, MIS and undertake basic Excel based modeling
  5. Very good written and spoken English to support proposal writing
  6. Good communication skills to interact with NGO partners, marginalized groups, government, and other stakeholders
