TVS Launches the iQube in India

TVS Motor Company has forayed from the electric vehicle segment, and it has established its first-ever electrical offering together with the iQube electric scooter. The newest TVS iQube electric scooter is priced at Rs. 1.15 lakh (on-road, Bangalore) and will probably be sold in its own home market of Bangalore before TVS decides to introduce the model in different cities. The iQube is powered with the organization’s hallmark electric drive train and next-gen TVS SmartXonnect platform.

TVS iQube Electric is a combination of an innovative electric drive train as well as the next-gen TVS SmartXonnect platform.”

TVS is kicking things off with ten dealerships and outside charging points in Karnataka. The brand is considering promoting 100 units of its iQube in the forthcoming days. The TVS iQube comes fitted with a 4.4 kW electric engine, which is maintained effectively at returning 75 km riding scope on a single charge with the assistance of a Lithium-ion battery.

Features and specifications

The top speed stands at 78 kmph. Key attributes include riding manners (Power and Economy), park assistance (reverse gear), Day and Night-time screen, and smart phone integration using SmartXonnect. The riders can get the location of this scooter in real-time and in history while the present and preceding ride particulars are also available in the touch screen.

The iQube Electric may be reserved in select dealerships or via the web site at a payment of Rs. 5,000. TVS asserts the green scooter can go from zero to 40 kmph in 4.2 seconds and it also comes with regenerative braking technologies, over-speed alert, incoming call/SMS alert, navigation aid, range index, geo-fencing for security and a house charging device.

Using TVS iQube program, Smart Home charging unit will also be offered. The iQube Electric has a clean layout with LED Daytime Running Light strip, LED headlamp, LED tail lamps and illuminated emblem being the primary attractions. It rides on black metal wheels along with the black finish on the front apron and windshield leaves a dual-tone appearance.

Horizontal turn indicates flank the LED headlamp using all the IQ badge sitting beneath in blue color and it may also be observed at the back. The side panels make iQube electrical written on it and also the chair includes contrast crimson stitches. The two-tone single-piece catch rail, flat LED tail lamp resulting in turn signs, black completed switchgear, an all-digital instrument console, and body-colored mirrors are additional layout highlights.

TVS iQube Electric vs Bajaj Chetak

Drive train

The Chetak comes with a 4 kW electric engine whereas the iQube has a 4.4 kWh of power. Chetak is rated at 5.1PS and 16Nm of torque. But, TVS hasn’t yet revealed the energy figure of the iQube. It maintains a peak torque output of 140Nm and also has a high speed of 78kmph.

The iQube can accelerate from a standstill to 40kmph in 4.2 seconds. Bajaj hasn’t disclosed the acceleration amounts of the Chetak.

The Bajaj Chetak includes a claimed range of 95kms while the TV iQube can do 75kms at a full charge.

Cycle components

Both the scooters receive a disk brake setup in front along with a drum brake setup from the back. The iQube utilizes telescopic frocks for suspension while the Chetak utilizes the tracking connection. The two scooters come with all-LED headlamps. A noticeable characteristic of the Chetak is that Bajaj has done away with toggle switches and have also employed feather touch switches.

TVS and Bajaj both provide a three-year-warranty on their various battery packs.

Characteristics

Both scooters are smart connected and can sync into the consumer’s smartphone. Features like geo-tagging and geo-fencing are available on both scooters. The connected attributes also offer telemetry, ride stats battery status etc.

Pricing

The Chetak can be obtained in two variations – Urbane and Premium. The Urbane sells at Rs 1 lakh ex-showroom and the Premium includes a price tag of Rs 1.15 lakh ex-showroom. Presently, Bajaj sells the Chetak in Bengaluru and Pune.

The TVS iQube is supplied at Rs 1.15 lakh on-road price but it is available initially only at Bengaluru.
