Ramky Enviro to set up another waste management unit in Tamil Nadu
|Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd is going to set up another Rs 270-crore industrial waste management project as per reports by The Hindu. The project will be chiefly for industries.
According to the company, the project to be set up by a subsidiary, Tamil Nadu Waste Management Ltd, will initially invest Rs 80 crore in the project and is expected to start in the next one year and scale up investments over the next 3-4 years. This is the second project by the Hyderabad-based Ramky Group company with the first unit set up north of Chennai at Gummidipoondi, an industrial hub.
The facility is presently awaiting environmental clearance.
A landfill will be established along with a a biomedical waste treatment facility and also an a electronic waste treatment facility.
Ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) had recently released draft rules for management and handling of municipal solid waste which once operational seeks to make it mandatory for the municipalities in the state to develop landfills and submit annual reports to state government and pollution control board.
