Andhra Pradesh’s first Solar PV project has accredited under REC mechanism
|The state of Andhra Pradesh has accredited its first Solar PV project under Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) mechanism. The project has been developed by KCP limited, a $100 million business group with interests in Power generation, Heavy Engineering, Sugar, Cement, Information Technology and Biotechnology. The project has a total installed capacity of 5.75MW and has received accreditation from the state agency(Andhra Pradesh State Load Dispatch Centre) on 8th April, 2013.
REC is a green attribute given to the electricity generated from renewable energy technologies like wind, solar, biomass, small hydro, etc. One REC is generated when one mega watt hours (1000 units) of electricity is generated from such renewable energy based power plants.
Currently, India has a total installed capacity of 109.50 MW accredited under REC mechanism in Solar PV category. Out of it, projects with total installed capacity of 96.25 MW have been registered. States like Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh are leading with 89% of total accredited capacity.
