The Organization: Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell (CSPC) is a joint initiative of Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India), Ambuja Cement Foundation and Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT). CSPC has a mandate to work on issues addressing livelihood enhancement of communities affected by increasing salinity ingress in the coastal areas. Developing itself as a knowledge centre on various aspects of coastal salinity including efficient water management, improved agriculture, addressing drinking water security and safe sanitation, the cell collaborates with several government and non-government organizations to pilot / implement projects, impart capacity building training inputs, document best practices. The Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell (CSPC); in partnership with twelve partner organizations/ non-government organisations have been working in more than 400 villages covering nine coastal districts.

Job Description:

The coastal salinity is a dynamic issue and coastal areas across the country are vulnerable towards climate change and have been facing environmental challenges which directly affect rural livelihoods. CSPC is looking for a professional to be a part of the programme team for planning, monitoring and coordinating various projects and developing partnership with sector players. The person will be primarily responsible for: (a) providing support for coordination, monitoring and management of programmatic activities under different thematic areas such as drinking water & sanitation, water resource management, agriculture, non-farm livelihoods and institutional building; (b) develop institutional understanding on cross-cutting issues of climate change; coping mechanism for both ecological as well as livelihood aspects; (c) create networking & partnerships with various organizations including non-government organisations, district/state government agencies, etc. to strengthen CSPC’s presence within the sector and make it a major stakeholder at policy level; (d) develop comprehensive strategy on community institutions, frame implementation plan and oversee execution of the same; (e) liaising closely with the Government and other relevant organizations such as research and academic institutions, donor agencies to their reporting and monitoring system; (f) development of proposals for raising resources from the government, donor agencies, etc.; (g) appraisal, evaluation and analysis of project progress; and (h) develop and implement monitoring mechanism including development of Management Information System (MIS), logical Framework, etc. The incumbent should be an innovative thinker, self-initiative, idea incubator and have holistic approach in understanding the community-based approaches in a development environment.

Work Place: The position is based at Ahmedabad office; and need extensive travel across coastal districts of Gujarat.

Eligibility:

The candidate should: (i) possess a Master’s degree in Rural Management / Development / Planning; (ii) The ideal candidate would be well aware of the diversified developmental issues relating to coastal ecology, salinity ingress and coping mechanism such as water management, sanitation, non-farm livelihood in the state and in the country; (iii) have direct experience of programme management for at least 5 years; (iv) demonstrated capabilities of leadership and institutional development experience; (v) the ability to innovate future strategies and deliver, in a challenging environment; (vi) have a good command of spoken and written English and Gujarati languages; and (ix) possess excellent computer skills, interpersonal, analytical and writing skills and ability to work as a member of a team.
