Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a network of 55 affiliated professors around the world that run and promote the use of randomised evaluations to rigorously test the effectiveness of social programmes and policies aimed at reducing poverty. Partnering with governments, international development organizations, and NGOs, J-PAL researchers answer key policy questions using the most rigorous scientific methods. J-PAL South Asia is based out of the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in Chennai, India.
Job Description:
J-PAL South Asia at IFMR is seeking a Project Associate to oversee implementation of the project in the districts and coordinate with the head office in Patna. The candidates will have to work closely with powermen in the field offices of the Bihar electricity department and will be responsible for monitoring and reporting issues in the field and assisting the Research Associates with survey operations.
Eligibility:
The Project Associate will work closely with the Research Associates to:
- Manage field operations
- Assist with data collection, closely monitor data quality and compliance of research design
- Assist with data cleaning and management
- Liaise with government officials
- Manage administrative tasks
Required skills:
- Fluency in verbal and written Hindi. Working knowledge of English
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word
- Good communication skills
- Graduate degree
Desired/Preferred skills:
- Experience working with J-PAL in the past
- Strong technical skills and comfortable working with numbers
- Experience working with the Bihar state government
- Fluency in verbal and written English
