About Science Express Train: Science Express is an innovative mobile exhibition mounted on a specially designed 16 coach AC train, traveling across India since October 2007. Its next phase, as Biodiversity Special, is being planned to travel across India from Jan to July 2014, to create awareness on biodiversity, environment and science among students and general public. Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre (VASCSC) is entrusted by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India to manage the project. Eligibility/Qualification:

  1. Young science postgraduates/graduates,
  2. Preferably, candidate should have experience in science communication and environment education
  3. Excellent communication skills, knowledge of multiple Indian languages.
  4. Should be adventurous, self-motivated and medically fit for long and continuous travel on train.

Role: Include conducting visitors and interpreting exhibits for them; disseminate information; conduct hands-on activities on the train, on platforms and in local schools; besides facilitating local coordination at halts, managing publicity, etc.

Pay: Consolidated salary in range of Rs. 17,000/- to 21,000/- per month depending on qualification, plus a daily allowance and free accommodation.

Note: Selected candidates need to join immediately. These are short term appointments of up to seven months, without any break, co-terminus with the project. The job involves continuous travel on the train.
