India and France have signed a contract on “MOBILISE YOUR CITY” (MYC)
|European Union (EU) agreed to offer Euro 3.5 million for investments and technical assistance MYC programme across the Indian cities such as Kochi, Ahmedabad, and Nagpur for reducing the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) related to urban transport.
India and France have contracted an implementation on “MOBILISE YOUR CITY” (MYC) on the evening of September 6, 2018, in the presence of the ambassador of France in India Alexander Ziegler and Housing & Urban Affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for India Shri Mukund Kumar Sinha and Regional Director Shri Nicolas Fornage on behalf of Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
MYC is a part of the international initiative that was launched during COP21 (21st Conference of Parties) meeting in December 2015 and supported by the German and French Governments. EU contracted to offer Euro 3.5 million funds for technical assistance and investments to dropping Greenhouse Gas emissions (GHG) & help to achieve a sustainable transport policy based on the proposal prepared by AFD in 2015.
The objective of Mobilise Your City is to assist three significant cities such as Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Nagpur for reducing the effect of their GHG emissions produced by urban transport with the help of applying urban mobility strategies at the local level and national level to recover their sustainable transportation policy for supporting India.
Technical Assistance activities of MYC will give advantages to the selected three main cities. The main modules of the projected assistance are;
- To offer planning and implementation of urban transportation projects
- Provide help to institutional solidification capacity for regulating, steering and planning urban movement.
- Also includes learning and exchange setups with other major cities through India for exchanges on greatest practices.
The details information of the project accomplishments will be operated by AFD consulting with MoHUA and the three accomplice urban areas including organizations, for example, the separate Unique Reason Vehicles (SPVs) for Keen Urban areas, the Civil Companies and any vehicle specialist or transport related SPV.
